10 Ways to Score Self Assurance in a Cinch

Do you ever have those days where you doubt every decision you’ve ever made? Maybe you’re thinking you should have never made that career change or you never should have swiped right on that terrible date or maybe you just really aren’t feeling the outfit you chose to wear.

Let’s face it: we all go through some period of self-doubt. That’s perfectly okay. Let this serve as a reminder that WE ARE HUMAN and it’s in our nature to feel uncertainty every now and again.

What’s not okay is feeling stuck and unable to get out of this mindset. Check out these 10 quick tips to feeling confident and self-assured again:

1. Do Something Nice for Someone Else

One of my favorite ways to life my spirits is bringing positivity to someone else. While your intentions may seem selfish, the reality is you’re putting a smile on someone else’s face while making yourself feel good. It’s a win-win.

Do you know someone at work who’s been having a hard time? Pick up their favorite coffee on your way to the office. Are you digging someone’s outfit? Let them know. Does your SO usually cook for you? Switch it up!

2. Release Some Endorphins✨

Hit the gym and hit it hard. Haven’t done cardio in a while? Perfect. Whether your preferred exercise is yoga or weight lifting, it’s in your best interest to get after it when you’re feeling down on yourself. Exercise is proven to help reduce stress and the release of endorphins can help accompany an energizing outlook on life.

3. Meditate

Feeling centered is a key component to raising your self-awareness and figuring out why you’re feeling down on yourself. If you’re new to meditating, find what works for you. It doesn’t have to be sitting on a pillow saying “om, om.” My favorite way to meditate is taking a break in the middle of my work day, getting comfortable on my bed, and listening to a guided meditation.

The most important thing is that you’re not thinking about the past or the present, and instead you’re focused on that moment. Try it for 10 minutes and if you feel good, keep going!

4. Affirm Yourself

Telling yourself what a badass you are may feel awkward at first but let me tell you… after you’ve gotten used to it, you’ll feel a difference in yourself. Start by looking at yourself in the mirror and saying things like “You are able, you trust yourself to make the right decisions, you are confident,” or whatever it is you need to hear. Try repeating these affirmations throughout the day to remind yourself how great you really are.

You can also write yourself sticky notes with relatable affirmations and stick them on the mirror. And hey, if you need to hear this… you ARE capable of fulfilling whatever it is you want!

5. Confront Your Inner Critic

When you’re feeling unsure of yourself, it’s important to question these pessimistic feelings. Examine the evidence: what proof do you have that you made the wrong choice? Sometimes, looking at the whole picture more factually takes the emotions out and can make you think more rationally about your fears.

6. Do Something You’ve Been Procrastinating

It’s no secret that feeling productive can lift your spirits. Start with a small task you’ve been putting off like sending that email or scheduling that appointment. The more you check off your list, the more motivated you will feel and the more you’ll want to accomplish.

7. Celebrate Your Small Wins

Did you make it to work today? WIN. Did you make your bed before heading to the office? DOUBLE WIN. Wait a minute, did you make it to the gym? TRIPLE WIN.

Don’t discount the little things– remind yourself that you chose to get up and start your day intentionally.

8. Go Outside

One of my favorite ways to clear my head and boost my confidence is simply going outside. Sit on that hill right by your house, close your eyes, and take a deep breath. Soak up the sun even if it’s only for a bit. Taking these few moments to relax and decompress is a quick fix to getting you out of your funk.

9. Step Up Your Flirting Game

Seriously. Whether you’re single, in a relationship, or married, flirting can be good for you. It not only improves your relationships, but it can improve your emotional health. Being authentic and connecting with others has a positive impact on our well-being as social creatures.

Quick flirting lesson: be your true self, make eye contact, and smile!

10. Surround Yourself With Positive Energy

Do you have plans with someone who isn’t on the same vibrational level as you? Cancel them. Make plans with friends who act as your support system and understand you and your needs. Surrounding yourself with this positive energy is a surefire way to make you feel self-assured. Also, SHOUT OUT to those friends who we are fortunate enough to have in our lives 😘
